Now on to my project...

For my project today, I used the Shop Around © and Shop Around Accessories © mega template to make a Flower Shop. I also used the Homemade Card and Envelope © cut file to make a matching card. The base of my shop is cut out of Couture Oat cardstock. I used Sara's painted wood siding digi paper to add the wood feel to my shop.

I added a punched flower and grass border all around the house. For the front, I added stairs using the Shop Around Accessories ©. Before I assembled the stairs, I added the wood grain to it using the coordinating stamp from Home Improvement ©. I also added the door from the same set. "Welcome" is from You've Got Mail ©. The sign, flower and "Hand Picked" are all from Sign It ©. Here's a front view of the flower shop:

On one side, I added a window and curtains (from Home Improvement ©). The flowers are from Sensational Stems ©. I added another accessory to this side (the awning over the window). Before I assembled it, I stamped the polka dots (from Home Improvement ©).

On the other side, I added a third accessory to the shop, the Flower Box & Window.

I also wanted to add something to the rear of the shop, so I used the window from Shoppe Window ©, added "Shoppe" (from Sign It ©) and stamped some silhouette flowers in the window (from Killer Curves ©).

Finally, here's a view of the card (cut file includes card and envelope). I kept the card simple, adding "Let's Chat" from On Display © and the door/grass (from Home Improvement ©) directly on to my patterned paper. The card (left) slips into the envelope. I decorated the envelope to match my flower shop.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Each week we will post an all new challenge at this time (9 PM PST on Monday). For all the details, please visit the SCRS blog. This week the challenge is an inspiration photo challenge.

I didn't use the photo to pull my colors for my card, but rather I used the serene beach scene to create a card with Cocktail Emily. No doubt it will heat up again soon, but in the meantime we are going to try to enjoy the reprieve while it lasts.. just like Emily is doing here!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

MTME Sneak Peek Day 2 - Shop Around!

Hello! Today is the second day of sneak peeks for the My Time Made Easy © September release. This month, Lauren is release one mega template, Shop Around © and Shop Around Accessories ©. It is a house/store shaped template with many fun accessories. There are also 4 new stamp sets that coordinate with the template.

Be sure to visit Lauren and Silke to see their creations! Dawn will have a lovely card to show you, and so will Tammy Hershberger.. a big welcome to Tammy as she joins our team this month!

When I first saw the template, I thought of a school house! I used Sabrina's school colors of teal and purple. For the teal, I used Bazzill Artesian Pool and my purple is Couture Quest cardstock. For my first house, I kept things fairly simple. I added a couple of the Shop Around Accessories © -- the stairs and the pop-up window. On the stairs, I stamped a woodgrain pattern (from Home Improvement ©) onto it before I assembled it. The door, windows and polka dots on the roof (see side view below) are also from the same stamp set.

"Welcome" is from another stamp set, Sign It ©. I will be showing you more from these sets and the other sets in future projects. Below is a little detail shot of the side. I added a little apple in the window (apple is from Well Preserved ©.

The roof is actually the lid to this school house and the base is quite large.. you can fill this some yummy treats. I filled mine with See's suckers!

Hugs and Smiles -- PDCC44

Hello! It's time for another Play Date Cafe challenge! Senior Designer, Sarah, has chosen the inspiration  colors Hot Pink, Navy Blue and Mustard this week. In case you are thinking that these colors don't "go well" together, that is why Sarah has named this a "horribilus" challenge... she invites you to challenge yourself to create something with these colors, which, BTW, really can be put together nicely.. :)

Please welcome back to the Cafe ... our fabulous guest designer, Elise Durenberger!

Our wonderful sponsor this week is Memory Box!

I used some coordinating papers from 3 Basic Grey lines today -- Bittersweet, June Bug and Oliver -- and did some layering of the patterns until I came up with something (hopefully) pleasing to the eye. I used the new Verve set, Kind Words, to stamp the silhouette flowers and the sentiment, Hugs and Smiles. I cut these both out with a Spellbinders Labels Nine die, cutting off the left part of the label so it would align with the left edge of my card.

Are you ready to play along? We'd love to see your creations! Be sure to go over to the Cafe and link your post. If you use an online gallery, please use the keyword PDCC44. And, be sure to visit my PDCC teammates for some wonderful inspiration.

Introducing JustRite Myriad Pro Font

Hello! Today we are introducing Myriad Pro Font on the JustRite Inspiration blog. If you'd like to see more samples, please visit the blog for links to all designers who have made projects with this new font. I used JB-08097 Myriad Pro 50 point font on my project today.

Three years ago, we were blessed with a hummingbird nest in our backyard.. I was SO excited because I absolutely adore hummingbirds and used to have several feeders in our yard (until sapsuckers aka Arizona woodpeckers started to drink the nectar and peck holes in our stucco). That sadly put an end to my feeders, so instead I planted hummingbird friendly flowers in hopes to attract them. Not only did I attract them, but I guess one mother hummingbird felt comfortable enough to build her nest in one of our trees! I had taken several photos and hadn't gotten around to scrapbooking them yet. So I got busy and created a 2-page layout using a few of my favorite photos and used the Myriad Pro 50 point font to frame a hummingbird quote that I found online.

I printed my journaling once I had decided on how I wanted my layout. Here's a look at the left page:

Note: I stamped the hummer from Backyard Birds in the lower left corner) of the right page:

Close-up of journaling:

And finally the quote:

To stamp the quote, I first started by printing the name of the person who came up with the quote (Chogyam Trungpa) on a sheet of white cardstock. Next I cut out the shape using a Spellbinders Mega Curved Rectangle Nestability die. I then stamped the quote in 3 steps using the Myriad Pro font and the Clear Horizontal Stamper. I used Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink. It did take some patience (and planning) to fit the quote in my space, but the clear stamper really does take the guesswork out of positioning!

It's a little hard to see the details of the layouts, though you can click on the photos to enlarge. In case you are interested, here are close-ups of the 3 photos that I used:

Mother hummingbird sitting on nest (and eggs)

The babies are hatching! I know that the nest looks huge since the photo was cropped, but to put it into perspective, it was the size of a ping pong ball!

I love this one, but I wish the branch wasn't in the way!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hello! It's time another Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge! Thanks to all of you who played along last week! Each week we will post an all new challenge at this time (9 PM PST on Monday). For all the details, please visit the SCRS blog. This week the challenge is to create anything travel-related! Since Sparkle recently released 3 fun travel-themed images, we thought it would be fun to make this a travel challenge. If you don't have one of the newest releases, you can still challenge yourself to use any of the other Sparkle Creations images to create a project inspired by your favorite vacation spot or maybe for sending your child off to school.. we leave it up to you to let your imagination go!

I used Suitcase Ruby for my card today. I added a few travel-related items to my project - map patterned paper behind her and a decorative clip that says "Take Off". I also added a little rhinestone to the flower in her hair. Here's a detail shot:

Introducing JustRite Backyard Birds

Hello! Last week the Stamper's Dream Team peeked some gorgeous samples of JustRite Stampers latest release. Today JR is officially introducing Backyard Birds on the JustRite Inspiration blog. If you'd like to see all the peeks and today's samples, please visit the JR blog for links to all designers who have made projects with this new set. It is a set of 4 lovely bird images (the American goldfinch, robin, hummingbird, and cardinal) and 4 coordinating borders.

I was so excited when I first saw this set. My absolute favorite bird is the hummingbird! We are lucky to have them year-round here in Arizona. A few years ago, a mother hummingbird even built a nest in one of our trees, so we were able to watch them hatch and grow.. it was just amazing! So, of course I chose to use the hummingbird image on my card:

I wanted the sweet hummer to be the focus of my card, so I attempted to keep my layout simple. I stamped the image using Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Copic markers: 0, C0, C1, C3, E21. E25, G12, G14, R20, R24, R29. See the links for the ink and markers? In case you haven't heard, JustRite is now carrying the full line of Tsukineko Memento ink pads and a special selection of Copic sketch markers! For more information regarding which colors are being sold (both as singles and as bundles), please see the JustRite announcement HERE.

"Rebirth of Spring" is a sentiment from Nature Nested Sentiments (to be shown in more detail tomorrow!):

Sparkle Creations Christmas Card Challenge

Good morning! Today I am excited to share that I am the guest designer at Sparkle Creations Christmas Card Challenges! Initially, Sparkle started challenging herself to make 2 Christmas cards each week so that come December, she would have a great headstart on her holiday card stash. Eventually, she extended the challenge her blog readers and now she has a talented design team. I loved this idea and would try to play along as often as I could. It's been awhile since I've been able to play, though the thought often crosses my mind each Sunday.

The challenge this week is to create a vintage Christmas card (can be a Winter, Hannukah or Holiday card). I thought this sweet Santa image from JustRite Vintage Christmas was just perfect for the challenge. I colored him with Copic markers and paired him with some new My Mind's Eye (from the Holly Jolly collection). I used Mercy's latest sketch, MTSC87, for my layout - such a fun sketch.. I loved it!

Be sure to stop by the challenge blog HERE to see the rest of the designer's wonderful creations. Hope you will join us this week!

Supplies ~
Stamps: JB-09785 Vintage Christmas 3 1/4", JB-09255 Christmas Nested Sentiments (JustRite)

With Sympathy

Hello everyone! It's finally Friday... I am back with a couple of cards for the Anni-VERVE-sary sketch challenge. I used sketch AVS2010B for both of my cards.

This was a sad week for our family as my mom lost her oldest sister. Farewell, Auntie Fran.. may you rest in peace... I didn't have any sympathy cards on hand, so I decided to whip a couple of them up. I used Verve's Forever in Our Hearts on both of these cards.

I used papers from the Kaisercraft Lush collection once again. These colors may not be typical "sympathy" card colors, but I liked the soothing floral patterns. The cards are simple sentiment cards. I finished them off with some pearls, a Prima flower and some stitching. The sentiments are cut using a Spellbinders Long Rectangle Nestabilities die. I sponged the center with Versamagic Wheat before removing the cardstock from the die, then I stamped the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Supplies ~

Hang in There

Hello friends! Verve is one of my most favorite stamp companies! I haven't had the time to play with my Verve stamps nearly as much as I would like... Since this is Verve's 3rd Anni-VERVE-sary release (3 fabulous years of Verve), Julee has created 5 fabulous sketches to celebrate! I finally got a chance to play with sketch #1:

All week, the Divas have been peeking the new sets and wowee.. I can hardly wait to get my hands on them! This is always the case for me when it is release week. When I sat down to make a card using this sketch, I realized that I hadn't had a chance to play with the sets from the last release. With my other DT commitments, life in general and summer, time just got away from me. So, this time, I decided to ink up one of those sets. They were all jam-packed with fabulous sentiments showcased in fun fonts, so this is what I'm focusing on here with my "sentiment" card.

My patterned paper is from the Kaisercraft Lush collection. "Hang in there" is from Always on My Mind. It is framed in a circular frame from Waltzingmouse Vintage Circles, Small and cut out with a Spellbinders Classic Circle die (love how it fits this image perfectly). I am hoping to squeeze in more Verve sketch time tomorrow.. wish me luck! The release is tomorrow at 8 PM EST.. yay!

On another note, I'd like to thank Monique for this lovely blog award that she awarded me last week. She chose me as one of the 15 blogs she loves. I am truly honored to receive this award, Monique! If you aren't familiar with her work, please visit her blog here for some fabulous eye candy! In the spirit of the award, I am supposed to pass this on to 15 others. I cannot possibly choose just 15 people whose blog I love, so I pass this on to each one of you who inspire me!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Season of Hope -- PDCC43

It's time for another Play Date Cafe challenge, and Senior Designer, Julie, has chosen the fabulous inspiration photo (above). Thanks to everyone who participated in our challenge last week.. we love your creative and wonderful entries!

Our sponsor this week is Creative Inspiration Paints. They are a family owned business that offers quality iridescent craft paint in 55 vibrant colors. You can visit their blog for ideas and tutorials HERE. A big thank you to them for donating this generous prize - 12 jars of paints (winner to choose colors)!

Please WELCOME our fabulous friend and guest designer, Paul Browning!

I just love the wonderful inspiration photo... it reminds me of summer days gone by, relaxing poolside and sipping on a cool beverage and not having a care in the world! This week, however, I took inspiration from only the colors. I was reminded of some Basic Grey Mistletoe & Pear paper that I picked up at Michael's a couple of Christmas' ago (before you start searching online for it, I believe it was a Michael's exclusive BG release). I thought the ornaments were a good match for the colors, which I interpreted as turquoise, chartreuse and pine green. I added some distressing to my panels and embossed the lighter green panel with an ornament embossing folder. The sentiment is from JustRite Christmas Nested Sentiments. It reads "May this season hold for you the Hope, Wonder & Amazement that you felt as a child."

Are you ready to play along? We'd love to see your creations! Be sure to go over to the Cafe and link your post. If you use an online gallery, please use the keyword PDCC43. And, be sure to visit my PDCC teammates for some wonderful inspiration.

SCRSC06 -- Teachers Rule

It's time another Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge! Thanks to all of you who played along last week! Each week we will post an all new challenge at this time (9 PM PST on Monday). For all the details, please visit the SCRS blog. This week is a sketch challenge (fab sketch designed by Mary!).

Sparkle just released 3 darling new images over the weekend, so if you haven't seen them yet, please head on over to the store to view them HERE. I used one of the original (July) releases on my card today, Cupcake Ruby. Since Sabrina started school today, I decided to swap out the cupcake for an apple. To do this, I stamped Ruby, colored her and cut her out. I also cut out the cupcake. I used Spellbinders Nested Apples to die cut an apple and put it in the cupcake's place. I cut the inside apple shape out of DCWV patterned paper from The Grade School Stack.

Here's a photo of my "baby" girl on her first day of 2nd grade:
